A native of Montana, Lowell has been a practicing Certified Public Accountant for over 40 years. He’s enjoyed working in Montana, Wyoming and the Pacific Northwest. Those times allowed him to explore the wonders that are the San Juan Islands, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks. His well-worn hiking guide for Glacier includes notes from his hiking of virtually every day hike and a healthy number of backcountry multi-day adventures. Are there grizzly bears? Yes. Will they eat you. Absolutely!

Lowell served six years as an elected official and was a trustee/officer for two statewide self-insurance pools. His time leading the accounting department for a small, publicly traded, international oil company was challenging but, when pressed, he’ll quickly admit he preferred the challenge of mentoring young men when he coached high school football and wrestling.

For the last five years, Lowell has been leading workshops in California, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Montana and Alberta, Canada. The workshops aim to get the participants grounded in their faith so they can live a life of true purpose.

Lowell and his wife Bonnie home-schooled their youngest two children. They used travel as the canvas on which they painted the world. An unforgettable hike in Arches National Park in Utah lead to the family motto, “If someone couldn’t have died then it doesn’t count as an adventure.” On their long drives, Lowell and Bonnie shared the driving and Lowell used his time as the passenger to read aloud from his newest non-fiction find. Those treasured times of learning and discussion/debate continue even in these days of an empty nest.
